She had discovered his ability to shift and rejected Selter, seeing him as a monster instead of her son. When the lab was burned down, most shifters had died in the horrible fire. Selter, however, had managed to escape,only to be captured once more and put in a cage at the docks. If you were disobidient, then the tests and punishments became harsher over time {And Selter was VERY disobidient} During his time at the research facility, Selter came to know two people. One was Zacharias Joy, who grew to be the target of hatred in Selters eyes. The other was Oliver who Selter came to enjoy. He claimed Oli as his friend whether Oli liked it or not and made it his mission to protect the older boy. Oliver was often used to get Selter to cooperate in the lab. Whenever Selter began to retaliate, the researchers would bring Oliver into the room and threaten him. This in turn caused Selter to calm down and behave. Sometimes Selter would run into Tobiah, a boy about his age, and he would talk to him as well, eventually dubbing him Tobi. Selter claimed Tobi as his friend but that was short lived as Tobi changed dramatically. Still, Selter persistantly visited him until he was taken to the docks. After that, Selter became more protective of Oli, afraid that he would be sent to the docks as well. Selter Will ALWAYS do the opposite of what you tell him to...even if he likes the original idea more Selter has a few lovely burn marks from his experiance at the facility And a tatto on his upper right arm that says '#009' He will hurt you if you call him number zero zero nine...or number nine...or anything to do with his tattoo Once he gets going, Selter can't calm down.
